  1. Yeast Doughnut Recipe
  2. Ingredients:
  3. - 4 cups all-purpose flour
  4. - 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  5. - 2 tablespoons baking powder
  6. - 1 teaspoon salt
  7. - 2 eggs, room temperature
  8. - 3/4 cup milk, room temperature
  9. - 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  10. - Vegetable oil, for frying
  11. - Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
  12. Instructions:
  13. 1. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt until well combined.
  14. 2. Add in eggs and milk and mix until a sticky dough forms.
  15. 3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes or until smooth.
  16. 4. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a clean kitchen towel. Allow to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  17. 5. Roll out the risen dough into a sheet of about 1/2 inch thickness.
  18. 6. Use cookie cutters or a pizza cutter to cut out doughnut shapes from the sheet.
  19. 7. Place the doughnut pieces on a parchment-lined baking sheet and allow to rise for an additional 30 minutes or until slightly puffed up.
  20. 8. In a large pot, heat enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom of the pot by about 1 inch.
  21. 9. Carefully add in the doughnut pieces one at a time and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  22. 10. Use a slotted spoon to remove the doughnuts from the oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  23. 11. Once completely cooled, dust with powdered sugar (optional).
