  1. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and saute until the onions are translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the stout and cook, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pot as you go. Pour the soup into the Instant Pot and close the lid. Cook on high for 6-8 hours or on low for 4-6 hours.
