  1. To make a beef spaghetti sauce, you'll need: 1 pound ground beef, 1 cup water, 2 tablespoons salt, and 1 teaspoon pepper. Cook the beef in boiling water until it's no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Drain off the water and set aside. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Saute the onion and garlic in the oil until they're soft, 3 to 4 minutes, or until the onions are translucent. Add the chopped beef and cook, stirring frequently, until browned on all sides, 4 to 6 minutes more. Stir in 2 cups chopped parsley and 1/4 cup chopped thyme. Bring to boil, then reduce the heat to medium and simmer, covered, for 1 hour. Remove the pan from heat and stir in 1/2 cup of the tomato sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve with spaghetti and meatballs.
