  1. To make a spicy cranberry sauce, add 1 cup chopped pomegranate seeds, 1 teaspoon each ground cumin and paprika, and 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper. Cook over medium heat until the seeds are lightly browned. Remove from heat and stir in 1/4 cup each sugar and water. Bring to boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer until sugar is dissolved, about 30 minutes. Stir in 2 tablespoons each cinnamon and ground nutmeg. Serve warm or at room temperature.
